It seems the word mindfulness is everywhere these days. Here’s a chance to find out what it’s all about in a free, open and welcoming Mindfulness Expo hosted by Bhavana Community from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 21 at Halyburton Park, in Wilmington.
“Bhavana Community is a nonprofit organization whose members are practitioners of mindfulness and yoga,” comments Catherine Ibsen, Ph.D. and founder. “Yoga, meditation, mindfulness and the many aspects of a more healthy and purposeful life will be demonstrated throughout the day. Attendees will be afforded the opportunity to view the wide world of mindfulness and healthy living up close. It’s also an opportunity to meet teachers, leaders and seekers on the path to more purposeful living,” adds Ibsen.
While attending this expo, attendees can enjoy and explore a yoga class or two without committing to a studio fee and also find out what “walking meditation” is in the serene, natural setting of the park. There’ll be resource tables with everything from books and internet sites to reviews of the current crop of apps for silent and guided meditation. Bring the kids, as there will be activities for them throughout the day as well.
Location: 4099 S. 17th St. For more information or to volunteer, call 910-270-0610 or visit BhavanaCommunity.org. See calendar listing for event, page 27.
